FERRIER RANKED TOP TALKING SCOT

LOCAL MP IS HIGHEST CONTRIBUTING SCOTTISH PARLIAMENTARIAN

Rutherglen MP Margaret Ferrier has been named as the top contributing Scottish Member of Parliament for 2016.

According to Hansard, the written report of everything said at Westminster, Ms Ferrier contributed to 173 different debates, question, and statement sessions in the House of Commons – more than any other Scottish MP.

Overall, the SNP parliamentarian ranked as the sixth highest contributing MP across the whole of the United Kingdom (excluding the Speaker).

Ms Ferrier’s most spoken-about topics include support for the steel industry, state pension inequality, the closure of Cambuslang Jobcentre, and the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

Commenting, Margaret Ferrier MP said:

“I was elected on a promise of being a strong voice for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, and my record shows that I am delivering on that commitment.

“Although individual constituents will no doubt have issues which are of a higher priority to them, I try to raise as many of their concerns as possible. I receive a huge amount of correspondence from constituents, which is crucial in determining my parliamentary activity.

“Consistently, SNP MPs have been shown to work harder than their Scottish Labour predecessors – and the constituency of Rutherglen and Hamilton West is certainly no different.”
