I am not currently an MP, as Parliament has been dissolved until after the General Election.
I am Margaret Ferrier, your SNP candidate in the General Election on Thursday 8th June for the Rutherglen and Hamilton West constituency, which includes the areas of Rutherglen, Burnside, Cambuslang, Halfway, Blantyre, Burnbank, Hillhouse and Earnock.
Since my election in 2015 it has been an honour to be a strong voice for Rutherglen and Hamilton West in Westminster. I want to be re-elected to continue my work, continuing to be a strong voice for communities right across the constituency, from Burnside to Burnbank, Earnock to Eastfield, and High Blantyre to Halfway.
I have strived to make sure our communities are better places, both in the constituency and at Westminster. Having lived in the constituency for most of my life, and raised my family here, I understand local needs, skills and resources.
I have been the strong voice that I promised during my 2015 election campaign – contributing more than any other Scottish MP at Parliament – and a champion for the diverse and distinct communities across Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Halfway, Blantyre, and Hamilton West.
This general election is fundamental to the kind of country we want to be. We simply cannot allow the Tories to inflict deeper cuts and further austerity on Scotland and, with Labour in complete disarray, only the SNP are offering any real opposition to the Tories.
I ask you to place your trust in me so that I can continue my strong track record of holding the Tories to account at Westminster.
